It’s time to get AT IT!

Four things absolutely anyone can do to improve their business.

“Uh oh. The tech guy is blogging again. He’ll probably list a bunch of IT gadgets, AI prompts and Microsoft tools we need to protect against the latest Kamawhatzee Spam Scam.”

Think again.

From the front lines to the corner office, here are four simple things anyone can do to streamline their process and protect their business. And they’re easy to remember. Just tell your team, “Let’s get AT IT.” 

A is for Ask!

Is our software doing what we need? What outside apps have snuck into our workflow? Are our PC’s in good shape? Is the connection fast enough? What tools would make your job easier? By asking different people the same questions, you can get a sense for larger trends. It’ll help you get beyond individual gripes, so you can budget for the things your team really needs.

T is for Talk!

Thieves are always finding new ways to take your money. And they don’t care if your business goes belly-up in the process. So make sure people know that, no, the CEO does not need them to buy a bunch of gift cards. And, no, they don’t have a mystery package waiting at USPS. And that odd link a coworker sent from their personal email? For the love of Pete, delete it. Having the same five-minute chat a couple times a month may feel repetitive to you, but it’s the single best way to raise awareness about the risks that exist every time you open your email.

I is for Insure!

You insure your car. You insure your health. Shouldn’t you insure your business, too? A good cyber risk policy will take into account the level of threat you face and the consequences of an attack. And even a small policy will help you get your business up and running in the event of a breach. One word of advice, though… Fill out the forms accurately. If you estimate or guess at your answers, your coverage might be voided right when you need it most.

T is for Train!

Are your team members improving their skillsets? With every new release, they have access to dozens of new features in Word, Excel, Teams and whatever other software you use to run your business. When was the last time they were re-trained to take advantage of these upgrades? Training means increased productivity, while failing to train might put you at risk of an error that compromises your success.

There you go. Four easy actions that, if done consistently, will make a significant difference in your business. And you don’t have to be an IT pro, you just need to come to work and get AT IT.
